2021 Eden Rift Vineyard Pinot Noir
This amazing single vineyard Pinot Noir is grown at about 1100ft of Elevation but only 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The result is a wine of great complexity and sheer deliciousness. Two-thirds whole cluster, foot trodden help bring out a wonderful bouquet of purple flowers followed by flavors of wilde strawberries, bramble, bing cherry and a touch of forest floor. This might be our favorite wine we have made!!! We only made 6 barrels, so make sure to buy some for now, and some for later!!!

Vineyard: The Coastview Vineyard is located in the Gabilan Mountains on the east side of the Salinas Valley, on an exposed ridge top between 2200 and 2400 feet of elevation. It is farmed with a focus on sustainability and low impact to maximize its ability to express terroir. The Vineyard soils are shallow and low vigor with layers of decomposed granite, substantial limestone component and thin top soils. The warm days and cool nights allow for long hang times that result in perfect conditions for ripe fruit flavors and elegant acidity.
Winemaking: The fruit was harvested at night and brought to the winery in the early am. Two thirds of it is whole cluster, foot-stomped and one third was de-stemmed. Fermentation started slowly, with light punchdowns and dry ice daily until fermentation started. Two punchdowns a day for the remaining fermentation. 14 days on the skins, it was pressed just at dryness. All native fermentation.
Tasting Notes: Opens with aromas of lilac, fresh turned earth and bright red fruit. Flavors of red currant, bright red cherry, bramble developing into a touch of earthiness. Soft, light tannins persist throughout, as does a lengthy and smooth finish.
Pairings: Grilled salmon, roast chicken, mushroom risotto, fresh tuna tartare, poke turkey, roast pork, ratatouille, grilled portobello burgers.
